ITT : post your hiking projects, pics and stuff.
I'll soon be on the top of the "massif du vercors", which is a pre-alpine range known for being the biggest wild parc of france and a big maquis, a resistance stronghold during WWII
God willing, if there's no thunderstorm while we hike, we'll go do the Grand Veymont, which is the highest peak of the range, at 2341 meters.

Walking in the woods for the day? I thought that’s what you meant.
That'd be hiking, trekking is multi-days hiking usually.
In my case I usually do one night camping hikes. I like to do them with another person but not more, because it becomes a great opportunity to talk, discuss and debate about stuff. When you're one on one for two days, you can really open up a lot more I find

I see. I’ve always thought of doing it but could never fully commit. I like having running water and a toilet at hand.

Start with a single night, it really isn't deadly.
Toilet is something you have to get used to but again, it's far from deadly.
And running water is no problem, if you have a source of water near your camp site you can do everything you need, from washing yourself to cooking.
If you've never done it before, try doing it with someone you know who's done it before

Well if you can come to the southeast of France, in the Vercors mountain range, maybe.
I'll just bring some IRL friends with me.
Thinking of somehow making this into an project reality side quest too but idk how yet

Have you ever ran into a dangerous wild animal snooping around your campsite?

The wolf has been reintroduced to France only very recently, and there's no bears in the alps I think.
The most dangerous apart from that would be an eagle or a lynx, but never met them nah.
That said though I almost stepped on a snake a few times

I gotta watch out for bears and mountain lions =(, too bad we didn't kill all of them. I have to carry around a damn bear canister to have my food in and keep it away from me when I sleep so the bear doesn't go into my tent.

On the bright side, (I guess you're a mutt), you get to have some of the world's most beautiful scenery when backpacking, and unlike Europe, still unstained nature.
But yeah bears n shiet are the downside of being in the literal wild, instead of just a "natural park"
