There was this thread here where someone makes a 'jak of Sam Hyde which got reposted by him not long after it was made. With that being said I doubt he saw it directly from the site, he was likely sent it from a close associate. Perhaps Jet Neptroon, xhe used to tripfag hard on /r9k/ so it makes sense he'd be aware of this site
