POOP!!!!! POOP POOP PEE!!!!
In William Edward Hearn's 1878 book The Aryan Household, Hearn characterizes the Indo-European ritual of sacrifice as a means of attaining closeness with the gods. Particularly, within the domestic sphere, every father is both king and priest of his household, responsible for sacrifice towards the household gods who are often deified ancestors (what the Romans called the Lares). Through sacrifice, one devotes the ideal element of a meal to the gods, while consuming the physical element of the meal. In this sense, you are sharing a meal with the deity and are close to them.
