My game is set in a world where you cannot choose who you are, your character's name, gender and other aspects of their appearance and personality will be randomly picked based off of circumstances such as a unique ID assigned to you by the hardware in your PC. Your character will have it's own eye colour, personality, favourite type of food, etc. The idea is that you will become attached to your character, and you're essentially playing the game helping that specific character.
It's a lot like how you would play a character in Don't Starve, except there's a lot of them and most of them don't have special abilities with the maximum I would put into that being certain things might help you better if you pay attention to them e.g your character likes sweet food more therefore eating sweet food benefits you a lil more etc, which varies up the gameplay and allows you as a player to have a relationship / understanding of the character you actually play as instead of just projecting yourself into the body of the character.
The character you play as might also even have randomly generated lore about how they got into the world in the first place and where they were before disaster struck upon the world. Who they were, etc. In terms of customization, all you can do is choose what shirt and trousers they would wear and thats it, aswell as armour and the type of weapons you wanna use, ofcourse. The game won't have an explicit class system but much like terraria you can just pick and choose what equipment to use.
It's a lot like Rust on steroids in that regard, I've always loved watching Rust videos and loved the idea of being randomly given a character, like if you're a man you have to play as a woman if you're """unlucky""" but YouTubers like TripleZero have gotten so attached to their rust character that they've given it a name and gotten it tattoo'd onto their body. That's basically what gave me the idea in the first place, being given a character, perhaps decided by fate in some way, completely unique to you, not your IP, but your PC. This is the character that God has given to you and it's up to you to take care of them, essentially. I like that 10000x more than just creating your own character and putting yourself into the game.
