Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) and a story about being unbothered.

[#ffe70d] My style is ridiculous!
Assalamu alaykum schloggers, i am here to tell a story about an incident that happened in public to prophet Muhammas (SAWS), an incident that most likely will or has already happened to you.
This story does not appear in the Quran, it is a Hadith.
The story starts off with prophet Muhammad and Abu Bakr sitting together. A stranger confronts Muhammad and starts verbally insulting him, the prophet does not respond to him. That same stranger was also insulting Abu Bakr, initially Abu Bakr ignored him the first two times, when Abu Bakr was insulted the third time he immediately got up and started talking back to the stranger, this caused the prophet Muhammad (SAWS) to get up and leave Abu Bakr and the stranger alone.
Abu Bakr followed prophet Muhammad (SAWS) and told him about how he just sat still when he was being insulted by the stranger and that he noticed prophet Muhammad leave him when he started to answer the stranger, Muhammad (SAWS) explained that when he was being insulted, he didn't answer the stranger back becuase there was an angel responding to the stranger on his behalf, and when Abu Bakr started to talk back to the stranger a devil came and sat down close to Muhammad (SAWS), telling him that he does not sit with devils.
Moral of the story: When someone is insulting you, do what prophet muhammad would have done, remain unbothered.
Here is an article retelling the same story:

So it's not really about not responding to insults and your pride being attacked, it's about letting the angels respond to them and defend your pride. It's "turn the other cheek" at the dollar store. I'd say this follows the general trend of islam but I'm too unbothered to elaborate
