Its a shame its one of the best soulslike games. It has a sekiro parry system BUT unlike sekiro your rolls have ACTUAL I FRAMES (sekiro is ruined by removing this because blocking is only worthwhile if you perfect block which makes bosses an absolute sweatfest you have to learn to perfect parry their entire moveset of before you can hope to beat them). It also has dark souls level weapon and build variance which makes you able to replay the game using different builds (its relatively short for a souls game, I finished half of my second playthrough in like 6 hours last night, though I was using the elemental status effect build which is the most OP and I am familiar with the game already so I can breeze through it. The gimmick of the weapon system is that you can take apart the weapons you get and mix blades of the weapons, which determine your damage type and obviously reach if its a long or short blade, and handles which determine moveset and scaling for your damage. Blades and handles also have their own weapon art skills that your weapon gets if you are using them.
The setting of the game is probably one of the best in the genere too. The victorian city the game takes place in was discovered back when it was a rural costal town to have an alchemical substance in the ground that could be used to animate robots. The settlers took advantage of it and prospered into an extremely rich and powerful city state, offloading every task and job off to the robots. 30 years after their rise though, all of the robots randomly went insane and killed the majority of the people, as well as a novel disease killing the rest. You play as Pinnochio, a puppet (which is what they call the robots in this game) built by gepetto (the guy who invented the puppets originally) to replace his dead son, and your goal that he puts you up to is to put down the puppet uprising and also become human.
Lastly the few times the game has been mentioned on the sharty people complained that the main character looks "twinkish" because they are porn addicted faggots. What those people mean is that he looks boyish, which is intentional because gepetto built Pinnochio to be a reincarnation of his son who died as a boy. Fortunately if you don't like the look of him you get a big mask to cover up his face from the first boss and also as you progress into the game he grows up into an aryan jawgod supersoldier
