Of course, national pride is also responsible for many very funny things, and very benefical things too, but it is still true that most of the time national pride is just a way to make a nations population more obedient.

I'd say it depends on the meaning. National pride for your country isn't good unless your government is righteous and strives for a proper morality (no national government on Earth currently does this), but national pride in your nation, as in, your people, is still a good appreciation to have as long as you're putting those of your faith, regardless of their nationhood, at a higher level of care than all people of your specific nation.
