I don't think certain words should be considered "taboo", words change their meaning all them time, words considered "slurs" have became normalized and used in everyday casual conversations, losing their offensive connotation, On the other side, what would refer to firewood, originally was first used as a derogatory term for WOMEN. As expected, the term changed, as it iss now considered offensive to the homosexual community. Because it is wrong to intentionally hurt or offend people, but a lot of words do and will keep changing. All languages gradually change and it'll hinder the process if we stick to one way of speaking.
