Most bans are deserved. Some however aren't, see @unpingable ukronigger. The permabans are at the start just for show and if the receiver does not get unbanned within a few weeks it's an actual permanent ban.

all the bans in the banned user list are permanent because the temporary ones expire eventually and they stop showing up, I thought that would've been obvious
