complex language with a different alphabet system makes for a more interesting and rewarding learning experience plus i was into weeb shit when i learnt it at the time but over time i lost interest and now it's just a language that i happen to know a little of but don't use it for anything. you could say russian is like that too but russian contains a lot of letters similar to english letters which is very confusing
