Why or why not? I'll elaborate later on the thread as to not influence it in any direction.

I mean being happy is just a state of mind so I would say so, but being happy doesn't mean you're healthy in any way shape or form, albeit you probably knew that. If you want to think deeper about it it could be proposed that if you're depressed and you're able to delude yourself into thinking you're happy but actually aren't in your soul, and you can just tell that's true, then maybe the question could be more complicated than it would seem. That is the sign of greater mental torment and probably requires some searching within and not on internet forums.

How would I think Iโ€™m happy without being happy, that doesnโ€™t sound possible. I can say to myself that Iโ€™m happy when Iโ€™m actually sad but thatโ€™s different than genuinely believing Iโ€™m happy.

Happiness is a feeling, it's not a state of being, so you can't not be happy while thinking you're happy, as compared to feeling healthy but being sick. There's no state of happiness aside from the conscious one

Yea, in the short term i think so.
That is why people get addicted to shit, because they can't see a difference between smoking meth and actually being happy.
But feeling happy when things are shitty will only lead you further and further away from "being happy"

I think one can think they're happy because they're in a good mood or being bombarded with physical pleasure, but it can lack a sort of emotional depth. Which is fine for some people, and might lead into the misery trap of chasing happiness if they try changing it. And another thing, it might also lead to re-contextualizing prior feelings as unhappy if you fall into the trap of thinking xyz thing will "be the thing that makes you happy" Trannies are sometimes like this, they look for signs that they were never happy as a boy/girl and use it to justify their transition.

happy is temporary, joy can be remembered, don't let your future be filled with happiness, but rather joy so your dreams turn from memes into realities.
