To kick this thread off, here is an old tech demo I made. I was attempting to make a Ninja Gaiden/Strider merge. Indie games that base themselves off of retro games are a dime a dozen now, but there really isn't anything for fans of the NES Ninja Gaiden trilogy. The '04 reboot is the direction the series has taken for good it would seem. With that being said, I wanted to try my hand at creating such a game concept with the tech-demo.
Many unfinished concepts are in this little demo. I was in a rush because I wanted to see if there was any interest in the genre. I got some good feedback, but have since lost the code for it, and I am thinking of creating something just a little more original at this point in time.
I am quite proud of the wall-climb mechanic. It feels really fun to crawl on the ceilings so smoothly. This will surely be in my next game.
Note: This demo was created years ago. There are no enemies involved in this demo, and it is still very buggy. The graphics are sub-par, but I did make them all very quickly.
bumo, also curious about how many people in soysphere dabble in gamedev
I wont post my projects here because they're mostly unfinished trash and I posted about them on the sharty already and I don't want to attentionfag or something
@WH15KeY congrats on actually finishing a project, that's something I still struggle with
tried it out, pretty cool, although the scrolling background was pretty disorienting especially when doing long jumps, also I immediately managed to get under the map when I first launched the game which was pretty funny, but the wall and ceiling climbing was nice, maybe a little slow tho
