Rodong Sinmun Calls Upon Officials to Become Pioneers of Good Virtues and Traits
Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) – Rodong Sinmun on Thursday says in an editorial that the historic Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea called upon officials to become pioneers of good virtues and traits.

Herein lies the noble intention of the Party Central Committee to make officials in charge of each field and unit in socialist construction possess lofty and beautiful traits and thoroughly apply them in their work and lives, and thus make the whole society brim over with virtue and affection and redouble the spirit of advance toward ideal society on the strength of it, the editorial says, and goes on:
Good virtues and traits are our state's strategic resource compared with any financial resources.

It is the path of development peculiar to the DPRK to have won victory after victory with the struggle of all the people who firmly united with morality and sense of obligation in the same ideas and purpose.

The Korean people have overcome unexpected and pressing crises and difficulties lying in the way of advance by dint of the great power of noble humanity and moral ethics.

They have made a vigorous advance in socialist construction while taking warm care of those in pain, giving their arm to those who feels inconvenience and leading those lagging behind under the uplifted collective slogan of "One for all and all for one!"

The flames of creating examples, making innovations and performing feats are now being kindled at every field and unit. The officials should become cores and pillars in constantly ushering in a new phase of the vibrant state development by giving further momentum to such a social atmosphere.

All officials should prepare themselves to be the pioneers of good virtues and traits, the inexhaustible strength of our own style socialism, and thus give fuller play to the absolute advantages peculiar to our state, which is growing stronger by sharing affections and pooling efforts.

I wonder if one of us could send a message to Voice of Korea via email, they do video messages every so often on their site where they say the names of supporters and answer their questions (all in a rather unique accent). Their most recent one was actually yesterday (look at the video "E-mails from our Listeners" a little ways down the main page). Would be funny to hear her say something like "Gemmy Broot".

Birthday Party of KCU Members

(KCNA) – The respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un saw to it that the 78th founding anniversary of the Korean Children's Union was celebrated as a holiday of the whole country and birthday spreads were given to those in the celebrations greeting their birthdays during the stay in Pyongyang.
A birthday party of KCU members participating in the celebrations took place on Saturday.
Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, warmly congratulated those KCU members on their birthdays, saying that the birthday party is a reception of love provided by the respected fatherly Marshal.
The KCU members, who received the birthday spreads, enjoyed a pleasant time, singing loudly of the deep loving care of the benevolent father who invited the children of ordinary working people to the significant celebrations and repeatedly gave them dream-like happiness.

New Houses Built at Sudo Farm in South Hamgyong Province of DPRK

(KCNA) – New houses for hundreds of families have appeared at the Sudo Farm under the South Hamgyong Provincial Rural Economy Committee of the DPRK this year again.
Those modern houses and villages, built in harmony with the natural scenery of the Songchon River flowing through Hamhung City, show the great loving care and benevolence of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un to provide the agricultural workers with highly-civilized socialist life.
A ceremony for moving into the new houses took place on Friday. Present there were Choe Hung Jo, secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials in Haean District of Hamhung City, builders and agricultural workers.
Kim Yong Sik, chairman of the South Hamgyong Provincial People's Committee, made a congratulatory address.
Licenses were handed over to the owners of the new houses and speeches were made.
After the ceremony, a cheerful dancing party was given and officials visited the new houses to congratulate the owners.

Agit-prop Activities Brisk at Construction Sites for Regional-industry Factories

(KCNA) – A frontline-style information and motivation campaign is getting brisk at the construction sites for regional-industry factories in Kyongsong and Orang counties of the DPRK's North Hamgyong Province.
The provincial Party committee worked out an agitation plan to encourage the servicepersons involved in the construction project and has concentrated efforts and means on its implementation.
Artistes of the provincial art troupe have employed effective forms and methods of motivation work, while intensifying the collective discussion to truthfully represent the spiritual world of soldier-builders performing merits for the regional-industry revolution.
Members of mobile artistic motivation teams and women's union art squads in Kyongsong and Orang counties, too, revved up the atmosphere of construction sites through their art performances.
Encouraged by such agit-prop activities full of the revolutionary spirit and optimism, soldier-builders are speeding up the construction project.

Educational Level Improved in DPRK

(KCNA) – Teacher-training universities and colleges in the DPRK direct big efforts to preparing students as reserve talents for education.
Officials and educators of Kim Hyong Jik University of Education created more than 10 teaching and study methods of research-type this year alone and generalized them across the country. Education training and contests necessary to increase the particular abilities have been organized to prepare students as talents.
The Kim Chol Ju University of Education introduced achievements conducive to further enhancing the teaching efficiency amid the hot wind of creating new teaching methods based on modern educational technology. And a multilingual presentation for improving students' ability in foreign languages was held to bring about progress in the training of reserve teachers.
Diverse teaching methods and means, created by educators of Pyongyang Teachers Training College, are helpful to improving the application ability of students.
Hamhung Choe Hui Suk Teachers Training College and Wonsan Ri Su Dok Teachers Training College completed textbooks with more practical contents of the subject and pushed ahead with the work to introduce the research-type teaching method into major subjects in a stepwise way to improve the students' ability.
Officials and educators of other universities and colleges, too, have intensified the coordinated operation and cooperation research among faculties and departments.
