I found this short little video about the history of internet forums like ours and how they hallowed out and died, so I want to share it so we can learn the mistakes of their rich histories.
The video diagnoses three issues:
1. Jannies/management getting tired of hosting and cleaning for bad actors, causing them to lash out
2. Social media having superior features, beginner-friendliness, and more prevalent advertising
3. An unmanageable glut of population, allowing bad actors to infiltrate the site, as well as oldFUCKINGNIGGERS becoming bitter, toxic, and lashing out at newHYPERBOREANDEITIES

I should make a website called capitalism.win where every post costs irl money to make. 0.02 cents per character or 100. Images will be based on their file size where 100 KB or MB wtv is like 1 cent. Best part is that I can integrate automated AI jannies to do it for free.

I think it's more of a control type of problem, where there arent enough jannies to catch the rule breakers especially during Eurohours, which only grows worse as more people join and more posts are made during those hours

stupid guy who made the video doesn't seem to know the difference between 2chan.net and 2channel I don't care about his opinion on forums. Yes, forums are dead, obviously. They've been dead for a long time. There's 1 main cause. Forums are gooder than social media and normalfags hate goodness.
