Favourite game genres?

What are some of your favourite game genres, FPS, Third Person shooters, 2D platformers? What are the kiddies playing these days? Do you enjoy simplicity over complexity? Do you find it hard to commit to finishing certain games that might be harder to pick up and put down?

I do like to mix my game genres a bit so that my taste doesn't get stable, but I'd say my fav genres is immersive sims (deus ex, dishonored, my love) and action rpgs like mass effect. Although recently I've been playing xcom 2 almost religiously, and also picked back up my guitar started playing clone hero again.

immersive sims are gemmy, but good ones are a rarity
