Very serious 🇷🇺🇷🇺 I wanna learn Russian. 🇷🇺🇷🇺

This tag connotates the discussion as something much more serious than a regular Serious tag.

Ever since I watched a short video on how to read the russian alphabet, I've been playing TF2 and been able to read what peoples names are. This fascinates me and I love being able to read other language scripts, so, I wanna learn Russian. I think the future is Russian, all Russkis are based and there seem to be a lot of them everywhere I go. So, I wanna learn Russian, but I don't wanna use duolingo because Duolingo is for fucking babies and the voices and characters are fucking terrible. Should I use anki or something? Get fluent in reading the alphabet first and read some words alongside? What grammar system does Russian use, SOV or SVO?

Is there a good place to start with this or should I just suck up my pride and use the fucking baby applications or attempt to suffer with Anki o algo.

But to answer your question in a short manner, just learn the alphabet and grind spaced repetition until you can read graded readers. At that point just start reading and writing, and putting every word you don't understand into your Anki.

Also if you have trouble with keeping habits you should definitely use Duolingo just because it creates the habit, just do it alongside spaced repetition.

Didn't you drop out of learning Japanese anyway? There's nothing worse than someone who claims to want to learn a language and gives up after a while (either out of laziness, perceived difficulty, or failure to form a habit). You should learn an easier language if you're going to keep having difficulties.

Nobody speaks Japanese, atleast not in the circles I inhabit. But Russians? They are plentiful. I used to resent them, now, I want to understand them.

But that has nothing to do with it. EVERYONE speaks English, at least in Europe. The main cultures that don't speak English are Japan, China, and Russia.
