He saved Turkey so I like him, also most of his "anti-Islamic" and "pro-western" policies are made up (I'm serious)
His changing of the alphabet from Arabic to Latin was also definitely a plus, the Arabic script really doesn't work well for languages that have lots of vowels. For example:

Tajikistan literacy rate: 99.70%
Iran literacy rate: 88% (same language)
India literacy rate: 76%
Pakistan literacy rate: 60% (same language, again)
Arabic itself has only 3 vowels so it does fine for Arabic, but for most other languages it's not ideal.

And for Turkey, before the alphabet change, the literacy rate was 13%. As compared to 96% that we have now.
