thread_prefix.18 does anyone else find fire hypnotizing

I like fire, it's so calming to see such energy be harnessed for our own use and warmth. I also like seeing the detailed flames and how they curdle the fuel, I just think of God micromanaging the atoms to get them to appear that way in that specific arrangement. I should find a fireplace.

I'm pretty sure I'm some sort of a pyromaniac, but yea, i used to burn strips of notebook paper at my desk just to watch them flare-up, shrink, smolder, and die.
i do this with anything sentimental that I can't/shouldn't keep, also.
If it means that much to me, it feels better to watch it burn that to just throw it away. Better closure, i guess?

i like fire. fire is what reminds me of xiuhtecuhtli and his presence in every fire that was ignited.

to me, fire resembles a beautiful yellow and orange flower, blossoming and releasing embers into the air like pollen. radiating a warm sensation.

Sometimes I'll get a big box of matches and just sit there burning each one until I run out. I've done this since I was a kid. Great fun. I used to buy a lot of candles, which I'd melt. Zippos are cool too, I think I got my first one when I was 9 or 10, but I own a few now.

I find a similar essence of mesmerization with exhaust fumes of cars in front of me at stop lights during cold mornings (very specific example, but it's a common sight in my morning commutes to school). The wind flutters the smoke in such a way as to where the imagination can wander and create figures out of the various separations and connections of the fumes, creating these many ghostly little faces of eyes and mouths with each second of viewing that are fun to watch during the wait for the light to turn green.
