Soviets still use 7.62x39 to some capacity albeit they mostly switched over to 5.45 which is just a copy of the 5.56 NATO round but whatever I guess

True but NATO uses 7.62x51 a lot less than the Russians use 7.62x39, mostly because it's a full powered round compared to the M43.
